Purple Knights Get New Teammate on Saturday.

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's men's basketball team is proud to announce the addition of 11-year-old Edonusem Pomeyie of Colchester to its roster through its partnership with Team IMPACT. Pomeyie was introduced on Saturday at halftime of the women's basketball game in Ross Sports Center. Head coach Eric Eaton delivered special remarks during the on-court Draft Day ceremony.

Team IMPACT is a non‐profit organization that improves the quality of life for children facing chronic or life-threatening illness through the power of team. Pomeyie, who will join the Purple Knights at practices, games and other team functions, battles sickle cell disease, which is characterized by such symptoms as low red blood cell count, repeated infections and periodic painful episodes.

Team IMPACT is a Boston-headquartered non‐profit organization serving children who are facing life‐threatening or chronic illnesses by creating unparalleled team-based support systems. Core to its model is leveraging the power of teamwork by matching these courageous kids with college athletic teams. Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched 2,000 children with more than 700 colleges and universities in 48 states, reaching more than 55,000 student-athletes. The child joins the athletic team and the student-athletes join the child's support team. Throughout the journey, the child gains strength, camaraderie and support while the student-athletes experience lessons of courage, resiliency and perspective.

Saint Michael's is a long-time partner of Team IMPACT, joining many Northeast-10 Conference counterparts in its involvement, as the baseball, men's basketball, field hockey, men's ice hockey, men's lacrosse and men's and women's swimming & diving programs have welcomed Team IMPACT teammates in the past eight years. The men's basketball program has brought on three teammates in that time alone. For more information, visit goteamimpact.org.
