Embrace the Victory: Pioneers Lead NE10 in All-Super Region I Team Football Selections

LIU Post with League-Best Nine Selections, Including Four First Team Honors.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Don Hansen Football Gazette All-Region Committee released the 2018 NCAA Division II All-Super Region I team on Friday morning, with 23 players from the Northeast 10 Conference – including four First Team members – receiving recognition.

The NE10 produced 25 overall selections, with Assumption’s Deonte Harris and LIU Post’s Nazir Streater earning multiple honors for their special teams’ roles. The Pioneers had a league-high nine players mentioned on the All-Super Region I Team, while New Haven had five and Assumption had four.

Players on the first and second team All-Region selections will advance to a national ballot from which the 2018 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team will be named later this month.

LIU Post accounted for all four of the conference’s First Team selections, with offensive lineman Chris Coles earning a place on First Team Offense, while his teammates Kevin Petite-Frere, Jake Carlock and Streater were named to the First Team Defense. The Pioneers won the 2018 NE10 football regular-season title with a clinching 17-13 win over New Haven on Nov. 10 on Long Island.

New Haven’s Ajee Patterson, the NE10 Most Valuable Player, was voted to the Second Team Offense, as were his teammates Ju’An Williams and Dan Iannone. The Chargers reached the second round of the NCAA Division II Football Championship after a road win over West Chester in the opening round.
