FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire ice hockey’s Cole Stewart made quite an impression in Friday night’s 5-1 win over Franklin Pierce. In the second period, he scored an unbelievable wrap-around goal that was featured as the No. 1 play in ESPN SportsCenter’s Top Plays segment, on the way to the Penmen’s Northeast 10 victory.
A freshman forward from Alpharetta, Ga., Stewart got control and worked behind the net, came up alongside Franklin Pierce goaltender Ian Wallace and flipped the puck over his shoulder for the power-play tally – extending the Penmen’s lead to 3-0 at the time. SNHU hosted the game at the Ice Den in Hooksett, N.H.
Stewart’s goal was part of SportsCenter Top 10 on Friday night and can be viewed below, in addition to a comment from ESPN anchor John Buccigross on Twitter.
