Hawks and Panthers Sit Atop 2019 Softball Coaches' Poll

Hawks reached 2018 NCAA Softball title series; Panthers are two-time defending NE10 champions.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Saint Anselm and Adelphi have been tabbed to finish first in their respective divisions, as the Northeast 10 Conference released the 2019 Softball Coaches’ Polls on Tuesday afternoon. It is the fourth-consecutive year that the Panthers have been voted atop the Southwest Division.

The Hawks are coming off a remarkable 2018 campaign, reaching the National Championship series after winning its first-ever East Regional title as part of a 44-win season. Saint Anselm recorded 108 total points and 11 first-place tallies.

Adelphi – the two-time reigning NE10 champion – got 88 points and four first-place votes, edging Pace (83 points, seven first-place votes) for the top spot. Only 11 points separated the top three teams in the Southwest Division, with New Haven coming in third with 77 (three first-place votes).

Southern New Hampshire was behind Saint Anselm in the Northeast Division, notching 98 points and three first-place votes. Merrimack was close behind with 89 points and one first-place nod. Le Moyne was the only other team in the Southwest to receive a first-place vote, finishing fourth with 70 total points.

The 2019 softball schedule begins on Feb. 9-10, when Bentley plays three games against Rollins in Winter Park, Fla. Opening weekend for all other teams is the following Friday, Feb. 15.

The first round of the NE10 Softball Championship is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, while Championship weekend is set for Thursday, May 2 and Saturday, May 4 – to be hosted by the highest remaining seed from the Northeast Division following first round action.
