Embrace the Championship: Merrimack Women's Golf Wins Fourth Title in Program History

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Merrimack women's golf team met expectations on Monday, as the program won its fourth NE10 Women's Golf Championship since 2015 after being selected to win in the Coaches' Poll late last week. Led by senior Krystal Knight, the tournament's individual medalist with a 1-over for the weekend, the Warriors finished 10 strokes better than runner-up Franklin Pierce at Capital Hills at Albany.

In overcast conditions, Merrimack ended up 59-over as a team, with Franklin Pierce (+69) and Le Moyne (+98) rounding out the top-three finishers. For the complete list of results by team, please see the image below:

Knight shot a tournament-best 2-over on Sunday and 1-under on Monday, the only golfer to shoot a round under-par at the championship. The Ravens were led by Zoey Yamamoto (+10) and Taylor Hartley (+12), who finished second and third respectively, on the individual leaderboard. Assumption's Catherine French (+17) and Southern New Hampshire's Hannah May (+17) also qualified for the All-Tournament Team by finishing in the top-five.

For Knight, it is her second-straight individual title and fourth-straight finish in the top-five in her collegiate career at the NE10 Golf Championship. Her total score of 143 was just one shot more than the NE10 record, which she set as a junior with 142. In total, the Warriors had four golfers in the top-10 with Jordan Laplume (+18), Nina Harrington (+18) and Olivia Dempster (+22).

With the win, Merrimack earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament and reclaims its title as NE10 champion - winning for the fourth time in just five all-time NE10 Women's Golf Championships (began in 2015).
