FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chargers Have Raised Over $11,000.

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – For athletes that are used to taking ice baths after a tough workout, a dip in the Long Island Sound on November 21 was still a shock to the system. A total of 16 Chargers took the plunge on Saturday, capping off a week of fundraising efforts spearheaded by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in support of Division II's Make-A-Wish initiative.

In total, New Haven's SAAC has raised 113% of their $10,000 goal, a number that is often referred to as the cost of granting one wish. The week long efforts has vaulted New Haven into the top fundraising spot in the nation among Division II institutions and the $11,311 SAAC has currently raised is just shy of 50% of all funds raised by Division II programs since the start of this academic year.

New Haven is no stranger to fundraising for Make-A-Wish as the Chargers SAAC committee has been recognized as the top fundraiser among the 14-team Northeast-10 Conference in four of the last five years. Additionally, the Chargers have had an opportunity to grant two wishes since 2016, presenting dream cruises to Connor from Darien, Conn. and Joseph from Waterbury, Conn.

The New Haven Make-A-Wish donation page remains open and anyone who would like to donate to the amazing work that Make-A-Wish does can visit https://bit.ly/UNHforWishes.
