Reigning National Champion Le Moyne Picked to Repeat in NE10 Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Poll

Defending National Champion Le Moyne Takes Top Spot in Coaches’ Poll.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Coming off a 22-1 record and NCAA championship in the 2018 season, Le Moyne received 11 of 14 first-place votes on its way to earning the top spot in the Northeast 10 Conference Women’s Lacrosse Coaches’ Poll on Monday.

The Dolphins ended a four-year NE10 title streak for Adelphi last season, beating the Panthers 14-10 in the championship game. Le Moyne was first with 167 points in the coaches’ poll, with Adelphi right behind with 159 (three first-place votes). The two teams have combined to win the last nine conference tournament titles.

Le Moyne and Adelphi have also had remarkable success on a national scale, combining for four national championships in the past five seasons (Adelphi – ’14, ’16, ’17; Le Moyne – ’18). They have met in each of the past four NE10 title games.

Merrimack came in third with 133 points, narrowly edging New Haven, which took fourth with 131 points. Pace rounded-out the top five with 126 points.

The 2019 season begins on Sunday, Feb. 17 when Franklin Pierce travels to play St. Thomas Aquinas. The NE10 Women’s Lacrosse Championship is slated to begin on May 1 with the quarterfinal round, followed by the semifinals on May 4 and the championship game on May 5.
