Owls Survive; Setters Earn Upset Win to Set Up Sunday Quarterfinals.

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Southern Connecticut, the No. 4 seed in the Southwest Division, and Pace, the No. 5 seed in the Southwest Division, earn First Round victories on Friday night in the NE10 Men's Basketball Championship to advance to the Sunday quarterfinals to face the No. 1 seeds - Saint Anselm and Le Moyne. Quarterfinal games will be played on Sunday afternoon and can be watched on NE10NOW.tv.

SCSU 80, Stonehill 75 | Box Score

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team emerged victorious over Stonehill College in the first round of the Northeast 10 tournament, 80-75. The Owls improve to 18-11 overall while the Skyhawks fell to 14-15 overall.

Senior Kealen Ives (Providence, R.I.) led the Owls with 37 points, the most for a Southern player in a NE10 tournament game in program history. He shot 13-for-20 from the field and made six three-pointers, added seven assists and three rebounds in the win. C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) tallied 16 points, all coming in the second half, after shooting 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, with two assists and one rebound. Isaiah McLeod (Cambridge, Mass.) recorded 12 points, two assists and one rebounds.

Pace 74, Franklin Pierce 61 | Box Score

RINDGE, N.H. – Led by a game-high 22 points from Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, NJ/Southern Regional), the fifth-seeded Pace University men's basketball team earned a 74-61 victory at Franklin Pierce on Friday night in the first round of the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament.

The Setters will now advance to take on top-seeded Le Moyne College in Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. Pace and the Dolphins split their season series this season.

A huge first half from the Blue and Gold set the tone in their first playoff win since 2005. Pace opened the contest on a 13-5 run before extending that edge all the way to 17 at halftime. The Setters closed out the first half with a 10-2 stretch to take a 39-22 advantage into the break.

Although the second half was more even, Pace never trailed by less than 12 points the rest of the way. An old-fashioned three-point play from Jacobs provided the Blue and Gold with their largest lead of the game of 65-46 with less than five minutes remaining in the game.

* Stonehill and SNHU both finished with an 8-13 record, and they split their season series 1-1. Both teams were 0-2 vs. Saint Anselm. Stonehill earned the #5 seed based on a 1-1 record vs. Merrimack (SNHU was 0-2 vs. Merrimack).

** Adelphi and New Haven split their season series 1-1. Both teams were 0-2 vs. Le Moyne. New Haven earned the #2 seed based on their 2-0 record vs. SCSU (Adelphi was 1-1 vs. SCSU).
