Guers, Richmond and Watts Named First Team All-Americans.
MANSFIELD, Mass. – A trio of Northeast 10 Conference basketball players have earned All-American status for their outstanding performances during the 2018-19 season, with American International’s Dana Watts, Bentley’s Ryan Richmond and Saint Anselm’s Tim Guers being selected for the honor early this week.
Watts and Guers, both named NE10 Players of the Year earlier this month, received more recognition from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, respectively. It is the second-straight year that both have been selected for All-American recognition.
Watts led the league in scoring and ranked 14th nationally with 21.2 points per game, while grabbing 11.4 rebounds, good for 11th nationally. She helped lead the Yellow Jackets to the NE10 quarterfinals as a senior this season and finishes her career as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,202 points – second-most in NE10 history.
Guers has helped the Hawks reach the NCAA Elite Eight to be played on Wednesday afternoon, following their win in the East Regional Championship last week against St. Thomas Aquinas. He averaged 21.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game this season, while recording 20 games with 20 or more points scored. Recently he was named Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Division II East Regional.
For Richmond, it is the first time he has been named All-American after being a First Team All-Conference and NABC All-District recipient in previous weeks. Richmond led the NE10 in scoring with 23 points per game, ranking 12th in all of Division II. He scored in double-figures in every game this season except one, while tallying a 44-point masterpiece in a win over AIC on Jan. 16.
In addition - Le Moyne's McKayla Roberts and Southern New Hampshire’s Kylie Lorenzen were named WBCA All-America Honorable Mentions. Roberts, the Most Outstanding Player from the NE10 Championship and the East Regional, averaged 18.1 points and 5.7 assists per game this season while leading the Dolphins to their first-ever league title. Lorenzen scored 18.8 points and grabbed 9.8 boards per game – ranking in the top five in both categories among all NE10 players this season.
