Assumption, Merrimack and New Haven Pull-Off Upsets in NE10 Quarterfinals.
#1 Le Moyne 14, #8 Stonehill 4 - Box Score
Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior attacker Bryanna Fazio recorded five points to lead the top-ranked and top-seeded Le Moyne women's lacrosse team to a 14-4 win over eighth-seeded Stonehill College in the quarterfinals of the Northeast 10 Conference Championships on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
With the victory, the Dolphins will host the NE10 Championships semifinals and final on Saturday and Sunday. The Dolphins will take on fifth-seeded Assumption College, a 10-9 winner over fourth-seeded Bentley University, at 11:00 a.m. in the first semifinal of the day. The second semifinal, which will start at 2:00 p.m., will feature sixth-seeded University of New Haven (a 13-12 overtime winner over third-seeded Pace University) and seventh-seeded Merrimack College (a 16-14 winner over second-seeded Adelphi University).

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The No. 22 Merrimack women's lacrosse program ripped off a piece of history on Wednesday after rallying from three goals down early in the first half and never looking back; the Warriors went toe-to-toe with one of the nation's top teams and stunned them on their home turf after downing second-ranked Adelphi, 16-14, in the quarterfinal round of the 2019 Northeast 10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Motamed Field.
The victory – Merrimack's first over Adelphi in 19 tries dating back to 2001 – seconds the Warriors back to the semifinal round of the league tournament for the second year in a row and 11th time overall. Merrimack will take on either third-seeded Pace or sixth-seeded New Haven on Saturday at Le Moyne's Ted Grant Field, as the top-seeded Dolphins earned the right to host championship weekend after their victory earlier in the day over Stonehill.
Merrimack needed every one of the 16 goals scored on Wednesday, rallying from an early 4-1 deficit to eventually tie the game at 5-5 late in the opening half before taking a 7-6 lead off the stick of senior Amber Feminella. The two teams would go goal-for-goal until a stretch late in the second half that saw Adelphi take one last lead (14-13) with under 10 minutes left, but the Warriors scored the last three goals of the contest – including the game-winner from junior Ally DaCosta – who boasted a 10-point afternoon on a goal and nine assists – to clinch the upset victory.
#5 Assumption 10, #4 Bentley 9 - Box Score
Waltham, Mass. – Assumption survived two final shot attempts by Bentley that would have tied the game in the final seconds to come away with a 10-9 win over the Falcons in the NE10 quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
Trailing 10-9, Bentley forced an Assumption turnover with 1:36 left to get the ball back. They called timeout and executed a successful clear to get the ball into the offensive side of the field. With 12 seconds left senior MaryKate Staines fired a shot on goal that went just wide and out of bounds.
Sandrine Heller then brought the ball out behind the net after the restart and found freshman Caroline Boudreau in front, but Boudreau's shot was denied by Assumption goalie Allie Collins with four seconds left. Neither team was able to secure possession as the final seconds ticked away, as the Greyhounds secured the win.
#6 New Haven 13, #3 Pace 12 (OT) - Box Score
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In a thrilling contest that needed overtime to declare a winner, the No. 3 seed Pace women's lacrosse team was defeated by sixth-seeded New Haven on Wednesday night, 13-12, in the quarterfinals of the Northeast 10 Conference Championship tournament. The Setters' season comes to an end with an 11-7 overall record.
Juliana Marcolini led the Pace offense with a four-point performance, scoring three goals and earning an assist. Kayla Conway, Carlyn Mucci, and Emma Rafferty each found the back of the net twice for the Setters.
Conway led the Setters with five draw controls, while Alexandra Maitland-Ward had a team-high four groundballs. Mucci, Amanda Dickerson, and Amanda Brady each caused two turnovers. Sienna Masullo made nine saves in net for the Setters.
