Embrace the Championship: SNHU Men's Golf Captures NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Title

Paradis Leads Penmen to NCAA Golf Finals; Bentley Advances.


MANSFIELD, Mass. - SNHU and Bentley men's golf advanced to the NCAA Championship after strong performances this weekend at the Totteridge Golf Club in Greensburg, Pa., while the Penmen's Matt Paradis earned individual medalist honors with a 5-under 211 through three rounds on the course. Both teams will open play at the NCAA Championships on Monday, May 20 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.V.

When and Where: May 11, 2019 – Greensburg, Pa. (Totteridge Golf Club – Par 72)
Score: Southern New Hampshire – 899 (1st/20)

Senior Matt Paradis carded a 2-over 74 in the final round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional on Saturday at Totteridge Golf Club to earn individual medalist honors and lead the Southern New Hampshire men's golf team to its first regional title and second trip to the NCAA National Championships.

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS

  • Paradis wins his first NCAA Regional crown with a three-stroke victory, posting a 5-under 211 following an opening-round score of 67 and a 70 in round two.
  • Junior Drew Kane recorded the top score of the day for the Penmen with a 1-over 73 that placed him in a tie for 14th with a 226. Kane improved upon his middle round by five strokes with his 73, which was two shots better than his first-round score.
  • Junior Ryan Anderson also produced his top score of the tournament with a 76, following up respective first- and second-round scores of 80 and 78, to total a 243.
  • Freshman Matt Conti shot a 77 for a three-round total of 228, which tied him for 22nd, overall.

NOTES

  • Junior Garret Olivar, who did not factor into the team score with an 82, finished with a 243 through 54 holes.
  • SNHU's 899 topped Bentley University by just two strokes, while Wilmington (Del.) University was the third team to advance to the NCAA National Championships with a 903.
  • The Penmen make it back to the NCAA National Championships for the first time since their inaugural trip in 2016 with their first regional title. Nationals take place at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. – site of the two previous NCAA Atlantic/East Regionals – May 20-24.
  • Paradis, who had produced previous fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place finishes at the regional, defeated runner-up Owen Elliott of Shepherd University by three strokes.
  • Paradis finished with a tourney-high 17 birdies.
  • The NCAA Atlantic/East Regional was comprised of 107 student-athletes from 26 institutions.
