Dickerson Earns Recognition for Commitment to Community Initiatives.
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Amanda Dickerson of the Pace women's lacrosse team has been named the 2019 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Community Awareness Award winner for Division II.
The award recognizes student-athletes who have contributed significantly to their community in a given academic year, devoting time and energy to support and develop athlete-community relations and distinguishing themselves from their peers.
Dickerson balanced athletic and academic life over the past year with volunteer efforts both at Pace and in the surrounding Pleasantville community. The senior was a participant in Read Across America Day as well as the Susan G. Komen walk. Additionally, Dickerson organized Pace student-athletes participation in the Bedford Road Elementary School recess program where the athletes ran games and activities for kindergarten students. She also organized her team's participation in P4K: Pace for Kids, a dance marathon to raise funds for the local children's hospital.
Dickerson has also been heavily involved in numerous mental health initiatives. She served a large role in the planning and execution of the Out of the Shadows: Co-Occurring Disorders Awareness Walk to benefit the Harris Project in the fall. Certified in mental health first aid training, she volunteered at Greenwich High School and New Rochelle High School to assist on their mental health awareness days.
Dickerson is a seven-time Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll selection for her success in the classroom as an applied psychology and human relations major. She was named a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American earlier this month, and was a member of the SAAC and Lambda Sigma Honor Society while at Pace.
On the field, she started all 18 games of her senior season for the Setters, scoring 11 goals and dishing out an assist. She added 18 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers, and three draw controls throughout the season.
