Nearly 1,000 NE10 Student-Athletes Receive Academic Achievement Award

NE10 Posts Second-Higest Total Among All NCAA Division II Conferences

MANSFIELD, Mass. -  941 Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes received the 2016-17 Division II Athletics Directors Association Achievement Award, the association announced recently. Bentley led the way from the NE10 with 117 selections, while Adelphi was second in the conference with 109 student-athletes honored.

13 of the 15 NE10 member institutions had student-athletes that were eligible for this program. Of those, ten schools had at least 50 student-athletes honored. To see the complete list of student-athletes by NE10 institution, see below.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference led the way with 1,022 selections overall.

"As an Officer for the D2 ADA Board, I have been pleased to see the increase in the number of student-athletes recognized for their academic achievements," said D2 ADA President Scott Wiegandt, director of athletics at Bellarmine University. "This program is a point of pride for our current D2 ADA member institutions and a great way to recognize the achievements of their student-athletes."
 
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution must be a current dues-paying member of the D2 ADA. A record total of 10,644 student-athletes from 183 institutions across the country were recognized for the 2016-17 Academic Achievement Awards.

To be eligible, student-athletes must meet the following:
- have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
- have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
