Embrace The Philosophy: Jedidiah Scott Named First-Team Academic All-American as 19 Fall NE10 Student-Athletes are Recognized

Assumption Lineman Named First-Team Academic All-American 

MANSFIELD, Mass.Assumption senior defensive lineman Jedidiah Scott was recently selected as a First-Team Academic All-American as announced by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), for his success on the field and in the classroom. Scott headlined academic accolades handed out to 19 Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes recently. 

To see the complete list of student-athletes that were recognized for their academic success, see below. The 19 student-athletes represent nine different NE10 institutions. Adelphi had five student-athletes recognized to lead the way, while Pace had three. LIU Post, Merrimack, Southern Connecticut, and Stonehill each had two students honored with academic recognitions.

Scott appeared in all 13 games on the defensive line, making 20 total tackles with 2.0 sacks, 3.5 tackles for a loss and one forced fumble. He started each of Assumption's three playoff games, registering three tackles in each, while helping the team reach the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Scott leaves as part of the winningest class in Assumption history.

Off the field Scott is an Economics major with a 3.82 GPA. He is member of the Massachusetts Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon – economics honor society, as well as an Augustine Scholar at Assumption. As a four-year member of the football team he has also been involved with Team IMPACT as well. He is the first-ever Assumption football player to earn First-Team Academic All-America honors and the first Assumption student-athlete since 2000 to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team.
