For Immediate Release

February 2, 2012

South Easton, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference has announced the members of the Fall 2011 Commissioner's Honor Roll. A total of 2,918 student-athletes, representing each of the conference's 16 member institutions, are included on this semester's list. This fall's list represents 51-percent of all student-athletes in Northeast-10 sponsored sports.

The honor roll recognizes student-athletes from each of the conference's 16 institutions for their success in the classroom. Of the 2,918 student-athletes receiving the honor, 107 of them have a 4.0 grade point average. The 107 represents an increase of fourteen more student-athletes achieving this accomplishment then did during the fall 2010 semester.

"We're extremely proud of the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes. The fact that 51-percent of more than 5,700 students received this benchmark is a remarkable total, and once again proves the fact that our student-athletes have proven the ability to excel on the athletic fields, as well as in the classroom," said Northeast-10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert.

Bentley University featured the most student-athletes selected to the Northeast-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll with 320, followed by Stonehill College with 228 student-athletes honored. Saint Michael's had 210 athletes selected.

Nine of the sixteen Northeast-10 schools had over one half of their student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Bentley also led the way as 64-percent of its student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Adelphi University had 63-percent of its student athletes recognized, while Le Moyne College followed closely with 62-percent. Pace University and Saint Michael's each had 60-percent of its student-athletes honored.

Athletes representing women's soccer made up the majority of this fall's list with 272 athletes honored. Baseball was next with 251 athletes honored, while football had 230 athletes represented.

On the women's side, softball came in second among women's sports with 210 student-athletes recognized. Lacrosse was third with 198 honorees, while track and field checked in fourth with 189 named to the honor roll.

Men's lacrosse (182) and soccer (175) checked in third in fourth in terms of men's sports with the most student-athletes recognized for their academic success.

To be eligible for selection to the Northeast-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded a minimum 3.0 semester grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the fall '11 semester.

The conference will release a spring edition of the Commissioner's Honor Roll later this year.
