FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire women's lacrosse team officially signed Trinity "Tiffy" Mathews to its program recently after being matched with the 14-year-old through Team IMPACT.
Tiffy, who was diagnosed with a heart condition shortly after her birth, has undergone a series of open-heart surgeries throughout her life, in addition to having catheters and stents placed in her heart. Last year, Tiffy underwent surgery on her spine to fuse vertebrae to help correct scoliosis.
Accompanied by her family, Tiffy entered the SNHU Athletic Complex to the cheers of her new teammates after eating dinner (and dessert!) at the University Dining Center with captains Kennedy Daziel, Alexa Bedell and Danielle Miele. The team then held a press conference, during which Tiffy signed her Letter of Intent and was interviewed by New Hampshire ABC affiliate, WMUR, for News 9 at 11 o'clock.
Tiffy is an outgoing and active fighter, who has the support of her parents, Julie and Glenn, as well as her siblings, Shea, Skyler, and Tristan. Shea is a sophomore on the Curry College volleyball team, which also has its own Team IMPACT match named Locklyn.
Tiffy, who loves dance and ballet, counts Armageddon as her favorite movie, pickles as her favorite food and Bethany Hamilton as her favorite athlete.
Team IMPACT is a non-profit organization that improves the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses by matching them with collegiate athletic teams.
