“Congratulations to the student-athletes, coaches and administrators at Stonehill College on capturing this year’s Presidents’ Cup,” said Northeast-10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert.

“In a 15-team Conference as deep and competitive as the Northeast-10, the success necessary to earn this honor requires tremendous dedication and commitment from the entire campus community, and all of Stonehill should share in the celebration of this accomplishment.”

Stonehill, which collected a total of 207.5 points on the year, did most of its damage in the fall. Collecting 89 points from eight teams in the fall, the Skyhawks won NE-10 Championships in women’s cross country, field hockey and women’s tennis. They also got 39.5 points from men’s cross country, men’s soccer and volleyball.

The Skyhawks added 54.5 points during the winter season by winning the conference’s Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship in addition to an NE-10 Northeast Division title in women’s basketball and a successful season in men’s basketball. Stonehill added a runner-up finish at the Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships along with strong seasons in baseball, softball and men’s tennis for 64 more points in the spring.

Adelphi University, the winner of Presidents’ Cup in each of the last two years, came in second place with 189 total points. Assumption College jumped up to third place with 149 points after finishing 11th a year ago.

Merrimack College came in fourth with 145 points, while Franklin Pierce University rounded out the top five with 144 points. Bentley University and Southern Connecticut State University tied for sixth with 140 points each, followed by Southern New Hampshire University (131.5), American International College (129) and Le Moyne College (126.5) to complete the top-10.

The Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Northeast-10. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs competing in league championships.

Points for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, and men's and women’s golf are awarded based on placement in those sports’ respective conference championships.
