Newly-Formed Council Aids to Provide More of a Voice for Student-Athletes on Important Conference Issues

MANSFIELD, Mass. - The Northeast-10 Conference has formally completed the creation of the conference's official Student-Athlete Advisor Committee council (SAAC) it was announced today. The group will consist of 31 student-athletes, two per institution, as well as the league's national SAAC representative.

The Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Council shall receive information from appropriate sources and to act on matters pertaining to the well-being of the student-athletes of the Northeast-10 Conference. Further the NE10 SAAC shall receive and discuss information regarding legislative and administrative matters affecting the well-being of student-athletes affiliated with the NE10, and to convey judgment on these matters to the appropriate parties.

"The institutions did a tremendous job of adhering to our requested criteria with regards to balance of sport and class year composition," said NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert. This group features 15 student-athletes who currently serve on their institutions SAAC Executive Committees and six who attended the NCAA Division II SAAC Super Region Convention this past fall. We are extremely excited to begin working with this enhanced SAAC group!"

Each member institution shall select two student-athletes to serve on the Conference SAAC. Institutions must appoint one male and one female, one of which must be a member of their institutional SAAC executive board. Additionally, the two representatives must be from different academic classes (e.g. sophomore, junior, senior), from different sport seasons (e.g. fall, winter, spring), and must participate on NE10 sponsored sport teams. Additionally, the Conference’s DII National SAAC representative will serve as an ex-officio member, if they are not appointed as an institutional representative.
