Stonehill Takes Over Top Spot in NE10 Presidents' Cup Standings Following Winter Season

Three NE10 Institutions Appear in Top-50 of Learfield Directors' Cup Standings

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Following the completion of the winter sports seasons, Stonehill has taken a slight advantage in the 2017-18 Northeast-10 Conference Presidents' Cup standings. The conference's Presidents' Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the league. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points based on finishes in the regular season standings from all of its programs competing in league championships.

Stonehill (129) took the lead following a winter which saw the Skyhawks claim two NE10 titles as they won both Women's Indoor Track & Field and Women's Basketball Championships. Bentley, which held the lead following the fall season, is currently in second place with 124.5 points. The Falcons accumulated 25 points between men's and women's basketball this winter.  Rounding out the top five were Merrimack (112.5), Assumption (111.5), and Adelphi (108.5).

Adelphi won the NE10 Presidents' Cup following the 2016-17 academic year, and the Panthers athletic department has won four of the last five overall.

LEARFIELD STANDINGS

Three NE10 institutions were ranked in the top 50 of all NCAA Division II institutions as the final edition of the Winter Learfield Directors' Cup standings were announced last week. American International is ranked 26th overall and leads all NE10 schools. Stonehill (41st) and Southern Connecticut (44th) also appeared in the top 50 nationally.

Three other NE10 institutions appeared in the top 100 of the Directors' Cup standings: Merrimack (66th), Assumption (76th), and Adelphi (77th) were among the schools tied at 100th place.
