Accolades Continue to Roll In for Two of the Conference's Most Decorated Student-Athletes

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Former Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes Tim Buff of Le Moyne and Carly Muscaro of Merrimack were recently honored by the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) as the East Region Scholar-Athletes of the Year for 2016-17. Buff and Muscaro were among the 17 regional scholar-athlete award winners that were selected for this prestiogious honor by the D2 CCA.

A Finance and Marketing major, Buff graduated last spring with a 3.96 grade point average. For his efforts in the classroom, he was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District™ First Team each of the last three years and was selected as the NE10 Man of the Year in June.

Buff was named to the Academic All-America® Third Team as a junior. In April, Buff became just the third student-athlete in the eight years (23 seasons, 24 sports) of the awards program to be named the Northeast-10 Conference Sport Excellence Award recipient three straight years. Buff also received Academic All-Conference accolades for the third straight year. A Le Moyne College Dean's List member each semester as a Dolphin, Buff has been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma (International Business Honor Society) and Alpha Sigma Nu (Jesuit Honor Society).

Muscaro's list of accomplishments and accolades continues to expand as she adds this honor to a resume that is among the most impressive in conference history. The NE10 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Muscaro graduated this spring with a 3.88 GPA in criminology.

Academically, Muscaro adds Scholar Athlete of the Year to a resume that includes five NE10 Academic All-Conference selections and four Sports Excellence Awards as the top scholar-athlete among the NE10's member institutions during the indoor/outdoor women's track & field campaigns. She also boasts three College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District selections, and is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Winning the 200-meter and 400-meter national titles at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Muscaro finished her senior season with four national championships after triumphing in the same events during her indoor season. Including her indoor and outdoor 400-meter national championships as a junior, she finished her career with six titles overall.

Other accolades for Muscaro include her recognition as a 12-time All-American, the most in Merrimack history by any student-athlete. This season she was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Track Athlete of the Year during both the indoor and outdoor campaigns to go along with her five selections over her career as the USTFCCCA Regional Track Athlete of the Year. Muscaro graduated from Merrimack as an eight-time USTFCCCA All-East Region honoree and boasted two USTFCCCA All-Academic selections.
