Southern Connecticut Women's Basketball Selected as NE10 Team of the Month for December

MANSFIELD, Mass. - Folllowing a month in which they went 6-1, including posting a win over Division I opponent Rhode Island, the Southern Connecticut Women's Basketball team has been selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Team of the Month for December. The Owls narrowly edged out the Assumption Ice Hockey team to claim the honor.

The Owls received 43% of the nearly 650 votes that were cast by NE10 fans, while Assumption's Ice Hockey team received 41% of the votes. The Stonehill Men's Basketball team finished third having received 16% of the votes.

During the month, Southern Connecticut went 4-0 in non-league play including the 62-57 win over Rhode Island. They also knocked off Felician, St. Thomas Aquinas, and NYIT in non-league action. The Owls also went 2-1 in league play, posting wins over both Adelphi and Pace during the month. Six of the seven games they played were decided by 10 points or less, with Southern Connecticut finding a way to register wins in five of those six.

The Owls were selected through a vote the NE10 conducted on its social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), in which nearly 650 people voted.
