FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 26, 2016

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 continued formally honoring its Hall of Fame Class of 2016 on Tuesday, recognizing the three student-athletes within the distinguished club this week. The first student-athlete to be honored was former Saint Anselm men’s basketball standout Chris Madigan.

At the time of his graduation in 1990, Madigan stood first all-time in points scored (2,010), second in both field goals made and free throws made, fifth in field goal percentage and sixth in minutes played in school history.

Madigan, who led the team in scoring for three straight seasons, was named the conference’s Player of the Year in 1990. He was a three-time NE-10 All-Conference selection and twice was named All-District First Team.

The Hawks captured a pair of NE-10 Championship titles during his tenure and made two NCAA appearances during his storied career.

The newest members of the NE-10 Hall of Fame were honored at the conference’s annual banquet, which was held on June 6.

  • Madigan’s 2,010 career points currently rank 13th in NE-10 history, while his 705 points scored during the 1989-90 season rank fifth on the all-time single season list
  • He was named the MVP of the 1990 Northeast-10 Championship after leading the Hawks to their second league title in four years
  • Madigan still holds the conference record for most field goal attempts in an NE-10 tournament game with 28 when he scored 42 points against Bentley on March 5, 1988
  • Saint Anselm had winning percentages of .650 overall and .691 in NE-10 play during Madigan’s four seasons (1986-87 through 1989-90), the first four seasons of longtime head coach Keith Dickson’s tenure
