MANCHESTER, N.H. – After helping lead Division III power SUNY Cortland to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Regionals and a College World Series appearance, Manchester native Nick Cenatiempo has been named the 10th head baseball coach in Saint Anselm history. He takes over for Barry Rosen, who guided the Hawks for the past 11 seasons.
"Nick has a passion for the game and brings a competitive edge that we need on the Hilltop," said Director of Athletics Daron Montgomery. "Moreover, he's a great fit for our athletics department at this moment in time. We are excited to have Coach Cenatiempo on board and are confident he will bring a winning culture to Sullivan Park and our program."

"Growing up just down the street, I developed an affection for the Hilltop and believe that we will build the baseball program into a successful one both on and off the field."
Cenatiempo returns to the Hilltop after a two-year stint as the top assistant under Joe Brown at SUNY Cortland. The Red Dragons went 81-17 during his two years, appearing in back-to-back NCAA Regionals and playing in the College World Series in 2016. Cenatiempo worked with the pitching staff at Cortland, guiding the group to a 3.16 ERA during his two seasons.
Prior to Cortland, Cenatiempo served as an assistant coach under Rosen from 2011-2015 at Saint Anselm. During his five years, the Hawks posted 95 wins, including back-to-back 20-win seasons and an NCAA Tournament bid in 2012. During that campaign, Cenatiempo coached national ERA leader John Healy, who posted an 8-2 mark with a 1.06 ERA with 98 strikeouts while earning Northeast-10 Conference First Team and ABCA Second Team All-American honors.
Cenatiempo also has head coaching experience in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), having served as manager of the Upper Valley Nighthawks in 2016, the team's inaugural season, and the Laconia Muskrats in 2015. Cenatiempo was also named the manager of the Northern Division All Star Team in 2015 with the Muskrats.
After leaving Manchester West High School in 2006, Cenatiempo went on to play college baseball at Division I St. John's University, where he posted a 4.75 ERA over 67 career appearances including 15 starts. Cenatiempo went 8-5 during his career with the Red Storm, posting 124 strikeouts in 159.0 innings pitched. The team went 156-77 over those four years, winning three Big East Championships and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament three times.
Cenatiempo, who resides in Manchester, holds a bachelor's degree in sports management from St. John's and a master's degree in sports management from SUNY Cortland.
