Panthers Distribute Gifts to Students in the Bronx.

BRONX, N.Y. - To join in the spirit of giving this holiday season, members of the Adelphi baseball team and coaching staff contributed their time Wednesday morning to distribute gifts to the students of P.S. 55 Benjamin Franklin.

The event was coordinated by the John Theissen Children's Foundation and the New York Yankees, via community consultant Ray Negron, to give back to underprivileged children and their families during this time of year.

"I would like to thank Yankees Community Relations Director Ray Negron and Principal Luis Torres for giving us the opportunity to give back and help distribute toys to the children of P.S. 55," said Adelphi baseball head coach Dom Scala. "The Christmas spirit was in the air and the smiles on the children's faces were infectious."

Current Adelphi players were also on hand to give out the toys to the different groups of students and had the opportunity to speak to and interact with them as they came through the auditorium.

"It was a special day for us at PS 55," commented senior Lawrence Cicileo on behalf of the team's captains. "John's foundation is amazing and being able to be a part of it this holiday season was incredible. Bringing such happiness to all the children was a very rewarding experience."
