NE10 Player of the Week

Harry Vargas Segura, Southern New Hampshire
Junior | Outfielder | Bronx, N.Y.

Vargas Segura went 9-for-18 (.500) at the plate with 11 runs scored, nine RBI, two runs and eight walks, as he slashed .500/.654/.944, during a 4-2 week for SNHU. Vargas Segura also went a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts, while making 13 flawless plays in center field. He went 3-for-3 with a pair of walks, three runs scored and three steals in a 14-6 game-one triumph over St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday. He also had his first career two-homer game Sunday, when he went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a career-high six RBI, as the Penmen rallied to top STAC, 13-10, in the opener. 


NE10 Pitcher of the Week

Liam Carroll, New Haven
Junior | Pitcher | Massapequa Park, N.Y.

In his lone appearance on the hill, Carroll threw a complete game shutout of Wilmington. For the game, he surrendered just four hits across his nine innings of work and struck out a dozen Wildcats, walking just one.


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Brendan Sencaj, Bentley
Freshman | Infielder/Outfielder | Plainville, Mass.

Sencaj hit his third and fourth career home runs this past week, including a three-run homer against Wilmington. He had multiple hits in all three of his games - a 2-1 week for Bentley - totaling 6-of-9 (.667) at the plate with two homers, five RBI and three runs scored. His slugging percentage was 1.444. 


NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Brendan Edvardsen, American Int'l (Jr., OF - Norton, Mass.)
Edvardsen had a strong showing in a two-game set at Felician, racking up five hits and reaching six times in nine plate appearances. He also swiped two bases in the series.

Steve Hardiman, Bentley (So., P - North Massapequa, N.Y.)
Hardiman hurled his first-career complete game in a win against California (PA), lowering his season ERA to 1.88. His ERA ranks second in the NE10 among all pitchers with at least 20 innings pitched.

Tim Zupkus, Bentley (Gr., OF - Middlebury, Conn.)
Zupkus reached base a total of eight times, including his second home run of the season in a win over Wilmington. Four of his five hits for the week were extra-base hits, as part of a 5-for-10 week (.500) at the plate with five RBI and two runs scored in a 2-1 week for Bentley.

Owen Pincince, New Haven (So., OF - North Haven, Conn.)
In four games last week, Pincince led the Chargers at the plate with a .500 batting average, collecting seven hits across 14 at bats. He led off the week with a 3-for-4 effort against Felician, driving in two runs against the Golden Falcons. He then wrapped up the week going 2-for-3 in a 1-0 shutout of Wilmington in Boca Raton. Overall for the week, he finished with at least one hit in all four games.

Dan Brown, Pace (Sr., P - East Northport,  N.Y.)
Brown twirled five scoreless innings while yielding one hit to earn a win this week against Mercy. He struck out seven Mavericks and only issued two free passes.

Mike Szturma, Southern Conn. St. (So., RHP - Beacon Falls, Conn.)
Szturma put together a strong start against Assumption, holding the Greyhounds to one earned run on six hits while striking out 10 over six innings for the win. 

Mike Talavera, Southern Conn. St. (Jr., IF/OF - Waterford, N.Y.)
In a 1-1 week, Talavera hit .571 (4-7) with a .700 on-base percentage while slugging .714. Talavera totaled four runs scored, two RBI and three stolen bases. In a 20-3 win against Assumption, Talavera was 2-for-3 with two walks, three stolen bases and two runs scored. Against Molloy, he was 2-for-4 with RBI and two runs scored.

Parker Lendrum, Southern New Hampshire (So., P - Exeter, N.H.)
Lendrum allowed one run on three hits, while striking out five and walking only one, over five innings of work in a 2-1 loss to St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday. The game was suspended due to darkness after five with the score tied, 1-1, and was completed Sunday morning. Lendrum did not return when the contest resumed.
