Assumption Narrowly Edges Out LIU Post in NE10 Preseason Football Coaches' Poll

Greyhounds Picked to Claim 2017 NE10 Title

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Assumption was picked to win the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Football title by the league's ten head coaches it was announced today. The Greyhounds narrowly edged out defending NE10 champion LIU Post by two points in the final voting, 78-76.

The Greyhounds racked up 78 points, including six of the ten possible first place nods, while the Pioneers received 76 total points, and the four other first place nods. LIU Post defeated Assumption 43-23 in last year's NE10 title game in Brookville, N.Y.

LIU Post would defeat Winston Salem in the First Round of the 2016 NCAA Football Championship, before, ultimately, falling to Shephard in round two.

The 2017 NE10 football season will offically kick off on Thursday, August 31, as Bentley and Saint Anselm hit the road in non-conference tilts. 

Assumption and LIU Post's championship rematch is scheduled for Saturday, September 30 at LIU Post. There will be no NE10 Championship Game / Weekend this year as the conference's athletic directors voted to remove it for the 2017 season.
