Falcons Celebrated on Saturday During Halftime of Men's Basketball Game.

WALTHAM, Mass. - The Bentley football team, the 2019 Northeast-10 Conference champion, was honored on Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center with a formal trophy presentation to celebrate their first league title since 2009. The ceremony took place during halftime of the Bentley men's basketball game against New York Tech, as coaches and players were present to be recognized for their accomplishment.

NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert was in attendance to present awards, which included NE10 Coach of the Year for Bentley's head coach Bill Kavanaugh and the Elite 24 Award to Travis McGee - an economics and finance major with a stellar 3.907 GPA. The Falcons were then presented with the league championship trophy, accepted by team captain and First Team All-Conference selection Pete Thorbahn

The Falcons started the season 1-4 in 2019, but rattled-off five-straight victories to win a tightly-contested battle for the league title on the final day of the regular season. Bentley ended up with a 6-2 league record, tied with New Haven in the standings, but clinched the title by owning a head-to-head tiebreaker with the Chargers from a 31-14 victory on Sept. 27.

Bentley had 11 players named to NE10 All-Conference teams on Friday afternoon, led by Kavanaugh's first-career Coach of the Year nod. There were five First team selections - quarterback Stephen Sturm, offensive lineman Jack Kennedy, defensive back Pete Thorbahn, linebacker Marc Doran and defensive lineman Cedric Dashiell II.
