157 NE10 Student-Athletes Named to NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad

MANSFIELD, Mass. - The Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Squad was announced on recently with 157 Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes making the list.

Each of the 13 league members which sponsor the sport had at least four student-athletes honored.

Saint Michael's led the way with 17 honorees, while American International had 16. Adelphi, Bentley, Pace, and Southern New Hampshire each had 14 student-athletes recognized.

The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad includes all student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or greater through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year. 13 members of the Division II National Academic Squad also were named Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II Scholars of Distinction on Tuesday for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or greater through the first semester.

Additionally, the Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Academic Team Awards were announced recently with 29 squads earning recognition.

The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum team grade-point average of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year.

Southern New Hampshire was recognized as posting the top team GPA in the first semester with a mark of 3.68. In total, 12 of the league's 13 programs received academic team distinction honors. Recognized with team academic awards were: Adelphi, American International, Assumption, Bentley, Franklin Pierce, LIU Post, Merrimack, Pace, Saint Michael's, Southern Connecticut, and Stonehill
