LIU Post's Miller and Merrimack's Ohmen Earn National Recognition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 27, 2016

MANSFIELD, Mass. - LIU Post's Emily Miller and Merrimack's Katharina Ohmen have been named the Longstreth / NFHCA National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced earlier this week.

It's the third time this season that Miller has been honored, while it's the first award for Ohmen.

Miller notched a hat trick to lead LIU Post to a 3-1 victory over Pace on Wednesday. She scored the opening goal in the 28th minute, then broke a 1-1 tie with the game-winning goal in the 41st minute before adding an insurance marker in the 49th minute. Miller took seven shots in the game, including five on goal.

Ohmen put together the best week of her young career during her 2-0 outing in NE-10 action last week, earning both Rookie and Goalie of the Week distinction for the first time in her career. She follows that up with more accolades with the first Longstreth/NFHCA weekly honors for the team this season.

She began the week by recording the first shutout of her career with a career-high 12 save effort in a 1-0 win at Assumption on Wednesday. She then made eight saves to lead the Warriors to an upset victory at #8 Adelphi on Saturday to register a 1.00 goals-against average with a .909 save percentage and 20 saves on the week and keeping Merrimack in the playoff hunt.
