FIELD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
MANSFIELD, Mass. - Third-seeded Stonehill and fifth-seeded Merrimack posted wins earlier tonight to advance to Friday's Championship Semifinals.

EASTON, Mass. - Stonehill's Kacie Smith scored a goal 19 minutes into the first half, and the Skyhawks defense would do the rest as they defeated Assumption 1-0 earlier tonight in NE-10 Championship First Round action.
Assumption's Sarah Bodzinski stopped 11 of the 12 shots she faced in the loss, while Stonehill's Sara Freedman stopped the only shot she saw in the shutout win.
With the win, the Skyhawks now will head to Long Island to take on 2nd-seeded LIU Post in one semifinal Friday.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Led by 70 minutes of stellar goalkeeping from freshman Katharina Ohmen, Merrimack was able to hold off a late push by ninth-ranked Adelphi to beat the fourth-seeded Panthers by a score of 1-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference 1st Round on Tuesday afternoon to advance to the NE-10 Semifinals for the second straight year.
The Warriors would breakthrough in the 22nd minute, initiated by a great through ball from junior Mikayla Panneton that found classmate Rylie Hammond streaking towards the net. Hammond would fire a hard shot from straight on that rolled right past the keeper to give Merrimack the 1-0 lead and lone goal of the opening half.
Merrimack will now head to Saint Anselm to take on the top-seeded Hawks in one semifinal game Friday.
