Saint Anselm Picked to Soar to NE10 Field Hockey Championship This Fall

Defending National Semifinalist Picked to Win NE10

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Saint Anselm, defending national semifinalist and NE10 finalist, has been picked atop the NE10 Field Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning. Five different NE10 programs received at least one first place vote from the league's 13 head coaches.

The Hawks, who went 17-5 overall and 10-2 in NE10 play last season, picked up 147 points and six first-place votes to earn the top spot. Stonehill finished second in the voting with 139 points and two first place nods. Defending NE10 Champions LIU Post was selected third with 135 points, while Merrimack received 119 to finish fourth, and Adelphi rounded out the top five with 116 points.

The 2017 field hockey season officially kicks off on Thursday, August 31. The First Round of the NE10 Championship are scheduled for Tuesday, October 31, while the Semifinals are slated for Friday, November 3. The NE10 Championship Final will take place on Sunday, Nov. 5.
