Le Moyne's Clare Earns Medalist, while Franklin Pierce's Morrison Finishes Second at Regionals

DANIELS, West Virginia – Senior John Clare birdied the final hole to win medalist honors for himself and secure the final berth in the NCAA Championships for the Le Moyne men's golf team at the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional at the par-72, 7114-yard Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs.

The Dolphins finished the 54-hole regional with a score of 904 for a fourth-place finish and the final bid to the NCAA Championships. The Dolphins are advancing to the NCAA Championships for the third straight year and for the fourth time in the program's history.
 
The top four teams from the Regional advanced to the 20-team NCAA Championship on May 22-26 at Reunion Resort's Watson Course in Kissimmee, Florida, while the top two individuals not with a team advancing to the Championship also advance.
 
The Dolphins opened the regional with a 304 to land in a tie for fifth place, six shots off the lead. Le Moyne followed with a 298 on Tuesday, tied for the third-best score of the day, to move up into third place. The Dolphins closed out the regional with a 302 in the third round to dip into fourth place with a three-day score of 904. Each member of the lineup birdied the par-5 18th hole as the Dolphins overcame a three-shot deficit to edge Wilmington University for the final bid to the NCAA Championships by just one shot.

Clare is the second Dolphin in the program's history to earn medalist honors at an NCAA Regional and the first to do so at the combined 20-team, 108-player Atlantic/East Regional.

Dan McCarthy '07 captured medalist honors at the eight-team, 45-player 2007 Northeast Regional as the Dolphins claimed the team title that year. Clare, who earned his fourth consecutive top-11 regional finish after tying for 11th place in 2014, placing third in 2015 and finishing second last year, registered a one-under par 215, tied with last year's regional score for the second-best 54-hole score of his career, to claim medalist honors.

CANTON, Ohio. – Franklin Pierce junior golfer Camden Morrison finished second out of 66 golfers at the 2017 NCAA Division II East Super Regional at the Glemoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio.

Morrison, the no. 1 seeded individual golfer and the first ever Raven women to be selected to Regionals, qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships that will be held on Wednesday, May 17th to Saturday, May 20th at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.

"The course and the overall experience was amazing, said Morrison. The course was in great shape and we had really great scoring conditions all week. I'm looking forward to moving on and excited to get to experience the highest level of competition for Division II women's golf."

The team captain finished the three rounds at 217 (+1) and improved one place in the standings as she remained in third place after the opening two rounds. She bested the second place individual, Alexa Rippy of Trevecca Nazarene University (219, +3) by two strokes and third place finisher Alex Trask of William Jewell College (226, +10) by nine. Rippy and Trask will join Morrison next weekend at the Championships

The junior led all golfers in total birdies (12), ranked second in par-5 scoring (-5), fourth in par-4 scoring (+5) and tied for seventh in total pars (32).
