Embrace the Victory: Merrimack Takes Lead Into Final Round

ALBANY, N.Y. - Merrimack women's golf is halfway to achieving its goal of a fourth NE10 Championship in five seasons, as the Warriors (+33) take a three-shot lead into the final round on Monday at Capital Hills at Albany, as hosted by Saint Rose. Krystal Knight leads the way for Merrimack, shooting a 2-over and leading the field after the first 18 holes on Sunday. 

Knight shot a tournament-best 73 in the first round, while Assumption's Catherine French and Franklin Pierce's Zoey Yamamoto are three strokes behind with each shooting 76. Overall, the Ravens are in second place (+36) with a pair of golfers finishing in the top five. Southern New Hampshire rounds out the top three on the team leaderboard with a +44. 

Six golfers shot an 80 or better in the opening round at Capital Hills, including two student-athletes apiece for Merrimack and Franklin Pierce. Monday's action begins at 9 a.m., but stay tuned for changes in case of inclement weather.
