The two top seeds in the 2018 Northeast-10 Men's Basketball Championship still stand following the Quarterfinal Round as the field was narrowed down to four teams following Sunday's action. Here's how it went down -
#1 NE Saint Anselm 93, #4 SW Southern Connecticut 86 | BOXSCORE
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman Chris Paul, pictured, scored a team-leading 25 points to help Saint Anselm secure a 93-86 victory over Southern Connecticut in a Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinal game played on Sunday.
Saint Anselm (21-7), the top seed in the Northeast Division, will advance to the NE10 Semifinals and play host to Bentley at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, Feb. 28. Southern Connecticut, the fourth-seeded team from the Southwest Division, sees its season come to an end with a 16-12 record.
Paul secured seven rebounds alongside his 25-point performance. Senior Taylor Fortin matched Paul's seven rebounds and scored 16 points while juniors Cody Ball and Tim Guers scored 19 points apiece. Guers handed out nine assists in the victory as the Hawks combined for 22 helpers. Southern Connecticut's Isaiah McLeod led all scorers with 31 points.
#1 SW Le Moyne 99, #4 NE Stonehill 60 | BOXSCORE
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Le Moyne erupted for 59 second-half points en route to a season-high 99 points in the Dolphins' Quarterfinal Round win over Stonehill earlier tonight. With the win, Le Moyne will advance and host Merrimack in one semifinal matchup Wednesday night.
Isaiah Eisendorf led six Dolphins in double figures with 22 points as the team shot a remarkable 73% from the field. As a team, Le Moyne shot 33-35 from inside the arc Sunday. Dan Largey led Stonehill with 17 points.
#2 NE Merrimack 75, #3 SW New Haven 59 | BOXSCORE
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Junior Ryan Boulter hit four second-half three-pointers, sophomore Juvaris Hayes added nine second-half assists and Merrimack turned a five-point halftime advantage into a 75-59 victory over New Haven on Sunday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Quarterfinals from Hammel Court. The Warriors advance to face top-seeded Le Moyne in the NE10 Semifinals on Wednesday night, the program's first appearance in the semis since the 2009-10 season.
Hayes finished with a game-high 15 assists to go along with 11 points, his eighth game this season with at least 10 helpers. The point guard now has six double-doubles this season. Boulter led four Warriors in double figures with 17 points. Five of his six field goals came from distance. Elijah Bailey led the Chargers wirh a game-high 19 points.
#3 NE Bentley 68, #2 SW Saint Rose 65 | BOXSCORE
ALBANY, N.Y. – Junior guard Ryan Richmond scored 21 points, junior forward Zach Gilpin followed with 19 and senior guard Brandon Wheeler accounted for the 11th and final lead change with 2:14 to play as Bentley secured a 68-65 win over Saint Rose in the Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals Sunday afternoon at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
Bentley, riding a season-best four-game winning streak, will advance to Wednesday's NE10 semifinals where the Falcons will face Saint Anselm at the Hawks' Stoutenburgh Gymnasium (7 pm). The Falcons, who are the number three seed out of the Northeast Division, overtook the Southwest's number two seed by limiting the Golden Knights (20-9) to just two points and one basket in seven attempts during the final five minutes.
