New Haven Picked First in NE10 Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll

Men's Basketball Poll - 2022-23

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chargers Lead the Pack in Non-Divisional Format.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Entering the 2022-23 season, New Haven has been selected as the league favorite in the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.

For the first time since the 2012-13 season, the NE10 men's basketball standings will not be broken into two divisions (Northeast and Southwest), but instead feature all 13 programs competing for one regular season championship. The Chargers earned the top spot in the poll with 133 points and five first-place votes.

Pace, a 2022 NE10 semifinalist, edged reigning NE10 champion Bentley for second place in the Coaches' Poll with 127 points and four first-place tallies. Bentley had 126 points and four first-place votes. Saint Anselm (111 points) and Southern New Hampshire (102 points) round-out the top five.

The NE10 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll is voted on by all 13 head coaches throughout the conference.

New Haven qualified for the 2022 NCAA East Regional and advanced to the semifinal round. It was the second time in three seasons that the Chargers earned an NCAA postseason berth. Graduate student Majur Majak, the reigning NE10 Defensive Player of the Year, returns to lead New Haven under head coach Ted Hotaling in his 12th season at the helm.

Pace won the NE10 Southwest Division regular season title in 2021-22 and advanced to the NCAA East Region semifinals before falling to eventual champion Bentley, who won both the NE10 and NCAA East Regional titles and advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
