Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation, Danny McCabe, has appointed Charles Cohen as the new head coach of the men's golf program. Cohen comes to the university with 20 years of golf instruction and coaching experience with high school and college players throughout Long Island.

Since 2002, Cohen was the head coach of the varsity golf team at Lawrence High School in Cedarhurst, N.Y. Cohen had several of his players qualify for the Nassau County Golf Championship Tournament, and helped many of them continue their careers on the collegiate level.

"We are very excited to welcome Coach Cohen to the Adelphi family," said McCabe. "His mix of coaching and instructional experience will be a real asset to our student-athletes and I look forward to having him contribute to the tradition of excellence that has been established by our past coaches and players."

Cohen also spent four years as the Coordinator for the Nassau County Golf Coaches Association, where he created schedules for all Nassau County Conference Section V golf teams, served as liaison between college coaches and high school players and maintained scoring averages for all conference teams and players.

At nearby Eisenhower Park, Cohen also owned and instructed at the Long Island Golf Academy for nine years, where he specialized in creating summer programs for golf students at every level.

"It's a privilege to be given the opportunity by Mr. McCabe and the athletic department to coach at such a prestigious university," Cohen said. "My goal is to continue the successful tradition of the program by being one of the elite teams in the Northeast-10 and the region."
