NE10 Welcomes Post as Associate Member in Ice Hockey Beginning in 2019-20 Season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Northeast-10 With Seven Ice Hockey Programs After Addition of Post.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference is pleased to announce that Post University will be joining the conference as an associate member in the sport of men's ice hockey beginning with the 2019-20 season.

With the addition of Post, an institution located in Waterbury, Conn., the NE10 will have seven members competing in ice hockey – representing the entirety of the NCAA DII programs that sponsor the sport. The NE10 is the only Division II league in the country with ice hockey.

"The NE10 is pleased to extend associate membership to Post University in the sport of ice hockey. Post's commitment to the sport is important to the region and we are happy to welcome them into the Conference," said NE10 commissioner Julie Ruppert. "This is a win-win situation for the NE10 and Post. We are excited about beginning this partnership with Post Athletics and providing distinctive opportunities for its ice hockey student-athletes."

Effective with the 2019-20 season, the NE10 ice hockey schedule will consist of 18 league contests for each program – three matchups each against six opponents. There will be no changes made to the annual NE10 Ice Hockey Championship, as the top four teams at the conclusion of the regular season will compete for a conference title. All seven programs are eligible for NE10 postseason play, should they qualify.

The NE10 Ice Hockey Championship is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, with the semifinals coming the week before on February 29. The higher-seeded teams will host games throughout the Championship.

What They Are Saying:

We here at Post are very appreciative of Commissioner Julie Ruppert and the NE10 membership for extending us this invitation and we look forward to being an engaged associate member."

Pete Whitney, Head Coach of Post Ice Hockey

"The Post University men's ice hockey family is excited about joining the NE10. The ability to not only compete with, but to join these great schools in adding to the Division II student-athlete experience is an honor."
