Hawks Picked to Win the NE10 by Narrow Margin.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – By the narrowest of margins, Saint Anselm has been chosen to finish first in the Northeast-10 Conference Ice Hockey Coaches' Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches and announced by the NE10 office on Tuesday morning.

The Hawks claimed the top spot in the poll by recording 33 points, including three first-place tallies, while reigning NE10 champion Southern New Hampshire is a close second with 32 points and three first-place votes. Assumption finished third with 26 points, while Saint Michael's had the final first-place vote and 22 points.

Saint Anselm and Southern New Hampshire met in the NE10 Championship last season, with the Penmen winning a tightly-contested 4-3 game – earning them their second league title in program history.

As of the 2019-20 season, the Hawks have 10 NE10 titles – the most of any program in league history. Saint Anselm has won two titles in the past five seasons, but has played in the NE10 Championship game four times since the 2014-15 season.

Post University is the newest addition to the league, as the Eagles join the NE10 as an associate member in ice hockey beginning this season. Led by head coach Pete Whitney, Post was picked to finish sixth in the poll with 13 points.

The regular season is scheduled to begin on Friday, Nov. 1, with each NE10 team slated to play all six opposing programs three times. The NE10 Championship is scheduled for March 7 at the highest remaining seed, with the semifinals on February 29.
