Reigning Champion Panthers Picked to Remain On Top This Coming Fall

Defending Champion Panthers Tops Coaches’ Poll

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Defending Northeast-10 Conference Champion Adelphi has been selected as the top team in the Men’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll, it was announced today. The Panthers received 12 of the 14 first place votes from the league's head coaches.

Adelphi collected 168 total points, 21 more than second-place Southern New Hampshire. The Panthers defeated Le Moyne 2-1 in last year's NE10 Championship Game. They would go on to the National Quarterfinals, where they fell to Charleston in penalty kicks.

Le Moyne received the other two first place votes and finished third in the voting, while Merrimack followed them in fourth. Franklin Pierce rounded out the top five.

The 2017 season will officially begin on Thursday, August 31 with eight NE10 teams beginning their campaigns. The NE10 Championship will begin with Quarterfinal action on Tuesday, October 31, followed by the Semifinals on Friday, November 3. The title match will be played on Sunday, Nov. 5.
