Adelphi Picked to Defend Title in NE10 Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll

Adelphi Looks to Repeat as NE10 Champions in 2019


MANSFIELD, Mass. – Following the team's second NE10 Title in the past three years and an appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals last season, Adelphi has been selected by the conference's head coaches to finish first in the NE10 Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll. The Panthers received 10 of 13 first place votes while totaling 142 points overall. 

Adelphi is ranked fifth in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll and edged out Southern New Hampshire who finished with 129 points and the final three first place votes. Le Moyne is just three points behind the Penmen with 126 points. Last year the Dolphins and Panthers both tied for first in the NE10 with a 10-2-1 mark, though Le Moyne earned the top spot in conference tournament due to its head-to-head victory over the Panthers in the regular season. 

Franklin Pierce totaled 103 points, followed by Southern Connecticut in fifth with 98 points. Assumption (89), American International (82) and Saint Rose (67) rounded out the top eight teams. For the complete poll results see below.

Adelphi begins its NE10 Title defense on Thursday, Sept. 5 when the team hosts Post University at 7:30 p.m. as one of ten NE10 programs in action that day. Conference play begins on Saturday, Sept. 21 and the regular season concludes on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

The eight-team NE10 Championship field opens with quarterfinals action on Nov. 9. Semifinals start  Nov. 13, with this year's NE10 Title game taking place at the highest remaining seed on Saturday, Nov. 16.
