Paolo Marciano & Gary Book Earn Major All-Conference Awards for Adelphi

MANSIFELD, Mass. – Adelphi sophomore Paolo Marciano has been selected as the 2019 Northeast-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Year as the conference announced its All-Conference awards on Monday afternoon.

Marciano claimed Player of the Year honors while Carlos Ferrando Felis of Franklin Pierce was selected as the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year. Saint Rose's Hilmar Halldorsson & Sinisa Sprecakovic of Southern New Hampshire were named the NE10 Co-Rookies of the Year, and Assumption's Sebastian Jimenez was selected as NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year. Adelphi's Gary Book was honored as the NE10 Coach of the Year for the first time in his career.

The 2018 Rookie of the Year, Marciano was dominant in 2019, leading the conference in goals (12) and points (31) during the regular season despite missing three games. He registered a point in 11 of the 14 games in which he played during the regular season with a pair of game-winning goals in leading the Panthers to the regular season title.

Halldorsson finished the regular season with nine goals and one assist, coming on strong over the final month of the season as the Golden Knights made a playoff push. He tallied five goals over his team's last five games and his team went 5-1-1 when he scored this season. Sprecakovic, meanwhile, tallied at least one point in each of his team's final six games during the regular season, leading them to a 5-0-1 mark. He concluded the regular season with eight goals and six assists for a total of 22 points.

Jimenez is the first Assumption player to earn Goalkeeper of the Year honors. He finished the regular season second in the NE10 in saves with 83, while posting five shutouts. His 9-7 record is the most wins for a Greyhound since the 2009 season. Entering the NE10 Semifinals he has a 1.56 GAA with 85 saves and a .766 save percentage.

Book secured Coach of the Year honors as he led the Panthers to the program's first-ever No. 1 ranking in the nation. They started the year 7-0 and went unbeaten over the first 15 games of the year on the way to finishing the regular season 15-1-1 overall and 10-1-1 in conference play. Book is the third Adelphi coach in the past four seasons to earn this honor.
