NE10 Player of the Week

Gabriel Balestero, Adelphi
Graduate Student | Sao Paulo, Brazil

Completed a perfect opening weekend to the spring season. He lost only one game at No. 3 singles against Division I Boston University in a 6-1, 6-0 win. Balestero prevailed 6-4 for the only doubles point at MIT and won comfortably (6-2, 6-1) in straight sets at No. 2 singles, ultimately helping the Panthers to a 5-2 victory.

NE10 Rookie of the Week

Simon Lundholm, Saint Michael's
Freshman | Le Luc, France

Lundholm went 3-0 last week between singles and doubles action. In the Purple Knights' first win over Saint Lawrence since 1955 on Thursday, he captured a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles before nabbing a 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 win the next day against Emerson in the No. 5 singles spot. Lundholm added a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles against the Lions.

NE10 Weekly Honor Roll

Josh Weiss, Saint Michael's (Sr., #1 S/ #1 D - Pittsford, N.Y.)
Weiss went 3-0 from No. 1 singles while going 4-2 overall between singles and No. 1 doubles the past two weeks. Against Brandeis, which is ranked 27th in Division III, Weiss swept his singles foe, 6-4, 6-3, on Feb. 4 while losing an 8-1 decision in doubles play. During the Purple Knights' first victory over Saint Lawrence since 1955 last Thursday, he claimed a 6-1, 6-0 singles triumph but paired for a 7-6 (9-7) doubles loss decided in a tiebreaker. Against Emerson on Friday, Weiss won 6-3, 6-4 in singles and 6-3 during doubles.
