Skyhawks' Women Three-Peat, Yellow Jackets' Men Go Back-to-Back

BOSTON, Mass. - Both the American International men's team and Stonehill women's team repeated as NE-10 Champions after claiming team titles at the 2016 Northeast-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday night. It was the third straight title for the Skyhawks, while the Yellow Jackets won their second in a row after claiming the program's first-ever conference title in 2015.

Seven new NE-10 Championship records were set on the night, four on the men's side and three more on the women's side.


American International's Xavier McIntosh was named the Men's Most Outstanding Field Performer, while teammate Leakey Kipkosgei was tabbed Men's Most Outstanding Track Performer.Southern Connecticut's Destiney Coward was honored as the Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer, while Merrimack's Carly Muscaro and Southern Connecticut's Crystle Hill shared the honor of Women's MostOutstanding Track Performer.

New conference marks were set in the very first two events of the evening, the men's and women's distance medley relays. Franklin Pierce broke both records, as its women's team of Alexa Cassara, Monique Loney, Danielle Crawford and Alyssa Lambert set the mark at 12:21.96, while the Ravens' men's team of Jon Holmes, Matthew Carpenter, Joshua Ercolini and BJ Smith ran the DMR in 10:10.18.

Muscaro broke her own NE-10 record in the 400-meter dash by finishing with a time of 54.46. Stonehill's Nicole Borofski also broke her own conference championship mark in the one mile run after completing the event in 4:50.31.

Kipkosgei set a new championship record in the men's 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:28.13. Two men's field records fell on Saturday night as well, as McIntosh recorded a jump of 24'4.25" in the long jump before Southern Connecticut's Michael Lee broke his own record with a mark of 51'4.25" in the triple jump, the final event of the night.

The Yellow Jacket men also claimed individual titles from Serge Gilbert in the 60-meter hurdles, Chandler Cotton, Jr. in the 400-meter dash and Chad Miller in the 500-meter dash. McIntosh also won the high jump title, while Cotton, Miller, Pierre Shnyden and Horatio Pinnock won the 4x400-meter relay.

The Skyhawks women garnered individual titles from Emily Knox in the 5,000-meter run, Erin Carberry in the 800-meter run and Alexandra Buonfiglio in the 1,000-meter run. Borofski also won the 3,000-meter run, while Carberry, Know, Buonfiglio and Elizabeth Hannon won the 4x800-meter relay.
