MANSFIELD, Mass. - The Northeast-10 Conference announced its Outdoor Track & Field major awards today. Eight different member institutions were represented among the winners, with Assumption and Southern Connecticut each having two winners.

Merrimack's Carly Muscaro was selected as the NE10 Women's Track Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive year as she completed arguably the most successful career of any student-athlete in the history of the NE10 this spring. A six-time national champion, Muscaro won two titles this spring in the 200-meter and the 400-meter. She was also recently-named the NE10 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
American International's Leakey Kipkosgei garnered Men's Track Athlete of the Year once again after earning the award following the 2016 season. Kipkosgei earned All-American status following his fourth-place finish in the Steeplechase at the National Championship meet last month. He was also a dual winner at the NE10 Championships, posting victories in the 1,500-meter and the Steeplechase in May.
Southern Connecticut's Destiney Coward was honored as the Women's Field Athlete of the Year by the league's head coaches for the second consecutive year. Coward finished third in the hammer throw at nationals to earn the third All-America honor of her career.
Bentley's Holt Sihvonen, a former NE10 Rookie of the Year, was honored as the conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Year. Sihvonen competed in the javelin at nationals this spring after qualifying during earlier this year. He earned Field Athlete of the Week honors four times this season.
Southern Connecticut's John Wallin and Stonehill's Karen Boen were recognized as the NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Coaches of the Year. Both led their respective programs to NE10 Championships at the Conference's Outdoor Championships in May.
It's a repeat honor for Boen, while Wallin was tabbed following the 2015 campaign.
