AIC and Bentley Named Preseason Favorites in NE10 Women's Basketball

AIC & Bentley Pegged as Preseason Favorites by NE10 Coaches

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Bentley American International have been selected as the top teams in the 2017-18 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was revealed by the league office today. For complete results of the poll, which is voted upon by the league's head coaches, please see below.

Bentley, was the clear-cut favorite by the coaches in the Northeast Division, picking up 103 points overall, including 12 of the 15 first-place votes. AIC was projected to win the Southwest Division title after collecting 90 points and 12 first-place votes overall.

The Falcons, who are ranked No. 6 in the country in the WBCA Preseason Top 25 Coaches' Poll, lost in the conference title game last year before receiving a bid to compete in the NCAA Championship. Barbara Stevens' experienced group will feature five seniors and three juniors on the roster. Senior Lauren Green, pictured, is back and will be a big part of what Bentley does on both sides of the floor.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 19-10 campaign, which saw them finish behind conference champion Adelphi in the Southwest Division. All-American Dana Watts is back and the double-double machine should once again be a candidate for conference player of the year

Stonehill (93 points) was a clear-cut choice to finish second in the Northeast Division, followed by Assumption (74). The Skyhawks received the other three first-place nods from the league's coaches. In the Southwest Division, reigning champion Adelphi (73) narrowly edget our Le Moyne (72) for the second spot.

A new season begins for NE10 women's basketball teams on Friday, November 10. The NE10 Championship will begin with First Round action on Friday, February 23. The 2017 NE10 Championship title game will be on Sunday, March 4.
