Adelphi, Le Moyne Each Claim a Pair of Major Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Adelphi's Alison Johnson was named the 2018 Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, as the conference office announced its women's lacrosse all-conference teams and major award winners today. Le Moyne led the way with eight student-athletes recognized, including five first-team selections. Regular season champion Adelphi had seven players named All-Conference, including four on the first team.

Johnson helped lead the Panthers to a perfect 13-0 mark in NE10 play and a 17-1 record overall as she led the league in both points and assists. Last year's NE10 Rookie of the Year honoree has registered 111 points heading into this weekend's championship play. Her 79 assists are also tops in the league. Johnson was also named a First Team All-Conference selection in her sophomore season.
New Haven's Mackenzie Reh was selected as the NE10 Midfielder of the Year as she helped lead the Chargers to a perfect 12-6 campaign this spring. The high-scoring midfielder led a potent New Haven offense with 98 points, including 72 goals - which led the conference. Twice during the year, Reh was named the IWLCA National Player of the Week, as she also chipped in with 26 assists.
Le Moyne's Kelly Gaffney was tabbed the league's Defensive Player of the Year after a strong season for the Dolphins. A first team selection for the second consecutive season, Gaffney led a defense that allowed 6.00 goals per game - tops in the league. On the season, the 'Phins have allowed five or fewer goals in eight of their 18 games heading into this Saturday's Semifinals. Gaffney has also added 46 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers for Le Moyne so this season.
Le Moyne's Hannah George was selected as the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive season. George was once again a model of consistency in goal for Le Moyne, helping lead the team to a 17-1 record currently. Heading into the NE10 semis, George leads the league in goals against average (5.91) and save percentage (56.3%). She was also named a First Team All-Conference selection for the second straight season.
Merrimack's Haley Bartlett was named the 2018 NE10 Rookie of the Year. The high-scoring freshman has helped lead Merrimack back to the top half of the NE10 standings and a spot in the conference semifinals as they'll take on top-ranked Adelphi tomorrow afternoon. Bartlett registered 55 goals for the Warriors, which is tenth- best in the league. The two-time NE10 rookie of the week during the regular season was also named to the conference's All-Rookie Team.
Adelphi's Pat McCabe was chosen as the Coach of the Year by his peers. McCabe is currently in the midst of another banner season on Long Island as the Panthers are the top seed and host of this weekend's NE10 Championship play by virtue of their perfect 13-0 mark in conference play. Four of McCabe's student-athletes were recognized as First Team All-Conference selections, including Johnson, the conference Player of the Year. In his fourth season at Adelphi, McCabe has never lost moore than one game in a season.
