FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOSTON, Mass. — More than sixty athletes were chosen last week in the United Women's Lacrosse League's 2018 College Draft, ushering the next wave of stars into the first professional lacrosse league for women. Representing the only Division II selection, Adelphi senior Michele Scannell was picked 43rd overall by the Boston Storm.

Scannell, who enters her final season as a two-time NCAA Division II National Champion (2015 & 2017), ranks sixth all-time in career draw controls for the Panthers. She is a two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Second Team All-American, earning her second nod in 2017. For Adelphi she was sixth on the team in goals (36) and assists (9) to finish the season with 45 points. She was second on the team in free position goals (8) and collected 57 draw controls and 19 ground balls.

Overseen by league General Manager Kristan Ash, the UWLX draft featured General Managers and Head Coaches from the Baltimore Ride, Boston Storm, Long Island Sound and Philadelphia Force making selections across 18 rounds.
