Panthers Picked On Top of NE10 Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

Defending Regular Season Champs Picked to Win NE10 Title

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Adelphi Panthers have been picked to win the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Soccer title, as the Preseason Coaches' Poll was released by the league office on Monday.

Adelphi, which garnered 188 points and 10 first-place votes, won the regular season title in 2016. The Panthers finished the year with a mark of 16-4-1 and advanced to the Third Round of the NCAA Championship, where they fell to Bridgeport. American International finished second in the voting as the Yellow Jackets garnered 165 points, including two first place nods. Saint Rose checked in third with 160 points and one first place selection.

Slots four through seven in this year's poll were separated by a grand total of four points. Defending NE10 champion Stonehill received 144 points and one first place vote. The Skyhawks were followed by Southern Connecticut with 143, Southern New Hampshire (142), and Pace (141).

Interestingly, five of the league's 15 members received at least one first place vote.

The 2017 soccer season begins on Friday, September 1 for ten NE10 teams. The 2017 NE10 Championship will begin with Quarterfinal Round action on Tuesday, October 31, followed by Semifinal contests on Friday, Nov. 3. The 2017 NE10 Championship game is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 5.
