Saint Rose Tabs Hanson to Lead Women's Tennis Program

ALBANY, N.Y. – Saint Rose announced recently that Bobby Hanson has been named its head women's tennis coach. Hanson will oversee all aspects of the program that competes at the NCAA Division II level as a member of the Northeast-10 Conference.
 
"Bobby Hanson brings a varied skill set to the tennis program with expertise in health and wellness, fitness training, and triathlon in addition to his background in tennis. His long affiliation with the College teaching physical education courses should also serve him well in his new role," said Cathy Haker, Director of Athletics and Recreation.
 
Hanson has worked as an adjunct faculty member in the Saint Rose physical education department and as a Team Leader/PRN for Interactive Health in Owings Mills, Md. He has taught jogging, weight training, racquetball, and tennis courses at Saint Rose, and has provided health education and health screening functions in conjunction with worksite health promotion programs for Interactive Health.
 
From 2011-12, Hanson worked as a wellness coach for Wellness Coaches USA in Bluebell, Pa. where he provided individual coaching and guidance for the improvement and maintenance of overall health and well-being on a professional and personal level.
 
Hanson also served as the Senior Director for Mission and Community Outreach at the Glens Falls, N.Y. YMCA from 2009-10. He facilitated mission and community initiatives through event planning, grant writing, public appearances, and training and development of volunteers and staff.
 
Hanson previously held the position of Senior Program Director at the Glens Falls YMCA. He directed training and certification, safely and risk management, facility operations, and staff and volunteer management, while implementing programming for physical education and fitness, camps, child care and teen activities.
 
Hanson owns a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's in sports medicine from Texas Tech University. He furthermore possesses YMCA of the U.S.A. Certifications in foundations of strength and conditioning faculty, foundations of strength and conditioning trainer, and as an indoor cycling instructor. He is also a volunteer with the YMCA and served as President of the Adirondack Triathlon Club from 2011-12.
