#2 Adelphi 5, #1 Stonehill 4 | BOX SCORE

WEYMOUTH, Mass. - And now, you can call them a dynasty as the Adelphi women's tennis team won their third-consecutive Northeast-10 Conference title earlier tonight. The Panthers defeated Stonehill 5-4 at The Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Mass. to ensure the title heads back to Garden City for the third time in program history.

Not only did it give the Panthers the NE10 title, the win over Stonehill avenged their only conference loss of the season. The Skyhawks defeated the Panthers, 6-3, on September 16.

NE10 Player of the Year Rebecca Fakas would seal the win for the Panthers as she posted a three-set win over Stonehill's Victoria Barbetta to give Adelphi a 5-4 Championship Final victory. Adelphi would take a 2-1 lead after doubles play, posting wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The Panthers would move one point away from their third straight title, as they took a 4-2 advantage. Stonehill, however, would post consecutive singles' wins to even the match at 4 apiece.

After dropping the first set 6-3, Fakas would win the second set 6-4 to send the top-flight singles match to a third set that would ultimately decide the 2017 NE10 title. Fakas would earn the third set win, 6-2, to give the Panthers the title.
